The function of the chromium drip separators is to accumulate the particles of chromium present in the air through filters, which precipitate the drops of chromium into a tank connected at the base of the filter. Depending on the concentration of chromium in the air, the separator may be used before the fan for the expulsion of air into the atmosphere, or, for higher concentrations, can be placed before a scrubber to reduce the amount of chromium to eliminate, and consequently reduce the amount of pollution from the washing solution present inside the tower.
Such separators can be used for the elimination of any substance in liquid form present in the air. Depending on the pollution present, even these types of filters are custom designed. Depending on the type of separation and crossing speed, the load losses are also studied to determine if they can be inserted into an existing plant without creating problems of pressure, or if adjustments need to be made to the fan.
